Lavender plant is native to Mediterranean regions and northern Africa. It is now being cultivated all around the world for its essential oils which are extracted from the flower spikes. Lavender essential oil is used for its medicinal and cosmetic uses. However, it should be noticed that lavender essential oil, when consumed orally, is toxic in nature. Lavender oil is antiseptic, antifungal and anti-inflammatory used in conditions such as hair loss, wounds, anxiety disorders, fungal infections, bug bites, burns, insomnia, etc. Research also indicates that lavender oil may be useful in toothache, minor sores, sprains, hair loss and headache as well.
